Introducing The New SWISS Business Seat

SWISS has broken the mold and set the bar higher than ever with its groundbreaking business-class seat design. As the airline begins to outfit its fleet this spring, the timing is better than ever for passengers to test out the bed above the clouds.

SWISS Business Seat
Optimum Travel Comfort

The SWISS Business seat is the best of the best in seat design. Providing optimum comfort, the new design fully reclines to a lie-flat position. The innovative air cushion allows passengers to adjust the seats to their preferred comfort level — firm, soft or somewhere in between. The new seats also offer:

Innovation, A New Look and Green Initiatives

SWISS searched far and wide for the perfect partners to aid in development of the new seat. But, of course, they needn’t look any farther than Switzerland. They teamed with Lantal, a Swiss-based company specializing in textile design, manufacturing and distribution, to create the one-of-a-kind air cushion seat design. The new SWISS Business seat was designed with the passenger in mind. It is lightweight, comfortable and fully adjustable.

SWISS Business PassengerThe new seats are not only designed for passenger comfort, but they are great for the environment as well! The new seat is among the lightest options available, about eight pounds lighter than standard cushions. The weight reduction will save the airline a significant amount of fuel per year, eliminating SWISS CO2 emissions by 2,000 tons.

SWISS plans to install the new seat on all its long-haul aircraft. Outfitting of the aircraft begins this month on the Airbus A330-300s, a new addition to the SWISS fleet, and on the A340s, the largest in the fleet. Cabin interiors will also be updated, completely in tune with the needs and wants of passengers. The first SWISS A330 equipped with the new product took flight — between New York (JFK) and Zurich (ZRH) — on April 20, 2009. By the end of the year, approximately one-third of the long-haul fleet will be equipped with the new seats and design. Outfitting will continue into 2010, with completion by 2011. Within two years, each and every SWISS long-haul business-class passenger will be flying in premium comfort.
